About
Malachi Gregory is a composer and audio designer fascinated by the interaction between sound and visual media.
His music calls upon bold melodies, dynamic textures, and sincere storytelling through score.

Malachi began his journey after picking up the viola when he was eight years old, then composing his first string orchestra piece at thirteen. A recent NYU graduate from the Steinhardt School of Music, Malachi has worked with game developers and local filmmakers to compose music for their projects. His music has been performed by the Budapest Symphony Orchestra. His work seamlessly blends classical training with modern creativity, crafting enchanting compositions for video games and other media.
As an audio designer, he enjoys the collaborative process between team members when designing sounds and technical audio systems to enhance the project's high level vision.
His first foray into sound design was for Johanna Xue's award winning short Little Rabbit, and recently completed work on Yu-Hsuan Teng's SVA Thesis film Vestige. Malachi's main focus in the world of sound design is games, where he is able to take advantage of middleware's transformative potential to realize dynamic soundscapes. Malachi was selected as the 2023 inaugural Game Audio Diversity Alliance (GADA) Scholar. His experience includes 2023 Playcrafting sponsorship winner Signal Creek, Dirty Work, and many other indie projects.
Previous radio host of WNYU's three-year run show Night City Life, Malachi's dedication and passion for all forms of audio shines through his enthusiasm for collaboration. Outside of work, Malachi enjoys cycling, rock climbing, exploring new restaurants, and playing games with friends (online and off). He also loves jamming out on string instruments - especially his viola, electric bass, and ukulele.
